Menarini Asia-Pacific, a member of the world's largest Italian biopharmaceutical company, officially inaugurated the establishment of Menarini (China) Investment Co. Ltd. and the opening of its national headquarters on 29 October 2013 at the Wuhan National Bioindustry Base ("Wuhan Biolake") in Hubei Province, China.
Menarini is headquartered in Florence and is present in more than 100 countries.
Menarini has a Joint Venture in South Africa, a market soon to be consolidated with the launch of new products currently under registration. Menarini is also consolidating its presence throughout North Africa (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Egypt) and in French-speaking Africa. In the Middle-East, Menarini is consolidating its position mainly in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region where it has gained important market share.
Menarini's first foray into the Asian markets began with a Joint Venture in India in 1995. Since this initial partnership, Menarini had steadily grown in the region, mainly through strong partner distributorships. With the explosion of business opportunities in China, its Germany based subsidiary, Berlin-Chemie, had also developed a direct presence in China. In November 2011, Menarini Group acquired the Invida Group, recently renamed Menarini Asia-Pacific. This acquisition created a strong synergistic relationship between the two companies and provides its global partners the quiet confidence that we will deliver even stronger results with our combined strengths.
Aside from being headquartered in Italy, Menarini is known as one of the leading pharmaceutical groups with a significant presence in Europe: Austria, Benelux, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and Switzerland. Menarini has a strong presence in key Eastern and Central European markets where it ranks no. 6 in the total market of this region including: Russia, Poland, Ukraine, the Baltic States, Czech Rep., Romania, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Belarus, Hungary, Slovak Rep., Uzbekistan, the Caucasian countries, Albania, Moldova and ex-Yugoslavia. Menarini is also the market leader in the Baltic States, Ukraine, Belarus and ranks no. 2 in Russia and Kazakhstan.
Menarini has been present in Central America (Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador) since the early 1980s. Today, it is among the top five companies in the market. Affiliate offices were opened in Argentina in early 2001 and Mexico in 2008. Colombia and Ecuador are two key countries where Menarini has already introduced various products and aims to introduce more products in the near future.
